FULL ITINERARY

7 nights 8 Days Kokoda to Owers’ Corner

Day 1 Deniki (approx. 3 hours)

Depart Port Moresby by charter to Kokoda.
We Inspect monuments, memorials, museum and the Australian defensive position on the Kokoda plateau. Trek to Kovello and Hoi then begin the climb over the awesome Owen Stanley Range.
Trek through villages to Deniki.
Overnight at Deniki.

Day 2 – Alola Village (approx. 7 hours)

Today we continue to Isurava village – trek to the magnificent and solemn Isurava Memorial which was opened by Prime Ministers’ Sir Michael Somare and The Hon John Howard on the 60th Anniversary of the battle Inspect the Isurava battle site – examine weapon pits and discarded armaments – descend to the rear of the position at Back Creek – trek to the spectacular Alola village and admire the spectacular views back down in the Kokoda Valley.

Day 3 – Templeton’s 1 Camp Site (approx. 9 hours)

Trek to Iora Creek, this was the final obstacle in the Australians advance to Kokoda – the scene of one of the most bitter battles during our advance and the dramatic withdrawal from Isurava – savage fighting and bitter memories for those involved – continue on up the spur via the Australian delaying defensive positions – inspect the weapon pits as you proceed – examine one of the key Japanese defensive positions at the top of the ridge – continue trekking to the Templeton’s 1 campsite.

Day 4 – Efogi 1 (approx. 7 hours)

Today we trek over the highest point of the track at Mt Bellamy and then down through the Moss Forest and on to the Village of Naduri and camp at Efogi 1.

Day 5 – Agulogo (approx. 8 hours)

Today we trek from the Village of Efogi to Agulogo.
We will climb up to Brigade Hill where we will hold a small service before descending into Menari then onto camp.

Day 6 – Iorabaiwa (approx. 9 hours)

Our trek today takes through the Nauro Swamp before climbing up and over the Maguli Range.
We then descend down to Ofi Creek for a refreshing swim before climbing up and over Iorabaiwa Ridge into camp in the Village of Iorabaiwa.

Day 7 – Goldie River (approx. 6 hours)

Today we trek through Ua Ule Creek crossing it 22 times before climbing up Imita Ridge and down to Good Water. From Good water it is a undulating trek before crossing the Goldie River into camp.

Day 8 – Owers Corner- Port Moresby

From Goldie it is a short uphill trek to Owers Corner and the finish.
We then drive back down to Port Moresby via the Bomana war Cemetery.
